My favorite drawing surface is a finely polished limestone. Lithography’s serendipitous history, the unpredictable porous nature of limestone and the beautiful dichotomy between the simplicity of its principle – that grease and water do not mix – and the complexity of its processes, make it especially physically and mentally challenging. Here is a sampling of black and white and hand colored lithographs.
